My Dear Friends:
You may have noticed that the efforts to dismiss, discredit, if not destroy our faith is still underway. We must expect such from an enemy that has been defeated, knows time is limited, but is so fixated with hate for us, and our Savior, that it consume him? Know any one else like that? A hate that extends to all we have been blessed with. Thus they attack what we love; families, children, churches, and what would be otherwise a happy society. This “evil” will gleefully do all they can to utterly destroy all that is good. Note how they so rapturously and malignantly cheer abortions up to and including the ninth month, or mutilating children!
Such sinister hate only affirms for me, that we are in the right. You don’t act like this if you know you are right. This is so evident when it comes to our Faith. There is no religion or holy book that has been more scrutinized, criticized, or dissected than ours. The Muslims wouldn’t tolerate a fraction of what we endure, or what our Bible has undergone over the years. Just look at the unfortunate Salman Rushdie. Who just for writing a novel that fictionalize a legendary situation with the Koran, was put under a fatwa; a death sentence, and recently nearly lost his life. Buddhists and Hindus have a great many revered texts, which do allow one to pick what you like for any occasion. Apparently there are “religions” that allow you to believe whatever you want. Unfortunately, I know of liberal Protestant denominations where you can believe anything you want.
Privately, many “Latterday Saints” admit that the “Book of Mormon” is fiction, that there is absolutely no archeological, linguistic, or DNA evidence to support it. The idealism of “Christian Science’ has long been abandoned. And the “Watchtower’s” imagined scholarship is nonexistent. However, what has emerged stronger after centuries of those trying to diminish or discredit, what is highly attested and founded on profound scholarship; is Christianity. Our faith has survived schisms, “rationalism,” the demythologization of Bultmann, and even those who have abused His church for political or monetary gain.
It has resulted in faith tested in the “fires,” and is in fact a rational and verifiable faith. Facts and truth are always important; especially when rejoicing in what we have, as in celebrating Mothers. It is factual and true that there are but two sexes. And only women can get pregnant! And they are to be lauded, and appreciated for that fact, not have to bear for a moment the destructive nonsense that say otherwise. Evil would destroy our very foundations.
We need to also embrace the verifiable facts and truth of our faith. What our scriptures relate, when understood and appreciated; this will not only lift a people, enable and enrich a society, but also has the power to save. It has saved us, and can save our families, our communities, and yes, our world. Why, for even a second, would we ever question or doubt our Lord? Why allow for a moment these evil minions to gain the slightest edge in any dispute? Yes, I do remember, “we contend not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual host of wickedness in high places” (Ep.6:12).
Yet, they have no dominion over us. Our Lord’s has equip, enable, and is always with us. We are to “fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and staff they comfort me” (Psa.23:4). Besides, I can imagine nothing more powerful than the love of God. It brought about Calvary, the resurrection, and will bring about our total victory. This is something always to rejoice in, but our Lord has brought so much more. Christianity is true, it has caused more blessings to our societies than can be counted, and would, if allowed, bring even more grace and mercy to this confused, and miserable world. What the world offers is so empty, and unsatisfying. And we possess so much in Him; grace, love, hope, and joy. They need to give Him a try, so let’s make that possible!
May we rejoice in all that our Lord has blessed us with,
Thomas Randolf Wyatt
