“The Death of Atheism”
June 2021
My gracious friend:
Hopefully, you have enjoyed my efforts to express, as well as one could, what is possibly inexpressible. That is, why does God love us so? Of course, the answer is we have a God whose love is beyond mere words, let alone that we could fully understand. Our understanding if lacking, because we are fallen and imperfect creatures, of course, that will change. “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now (we) know in part, then (we) shall understand fully…” (1 Cor.13:12). What a day that will be? However, many people don’t like the idea of such a God, or such a day of “revelation.” Most likely, because like so many in the past they are captives of idolatry and will be so judged. It may be a little different now; a secular zealousness with an intense dislike of Christianity, and a whole new hoard of idols for this “new religion.” And make no mistakes it is a religion, with codes of behavior, required words to repeat, and their own hallowed sacraments. A religion seared with Frederick Nietzsche stain; “God is dead” and only “Man” and the “State” are to be venerated.
It is distressing to witnesses. For North American has been, and, I believe, must remain the fervent spiritual force for our faith in this world. Yet, at the same time it has become the impetus for this corrupt creed of power; which seeks to frighten and humiliate any opposition as they grasp all the more for absolute control. However, always those in opposition to the “…the way, the truth, and the life,” try to do too much and are destined to fail (Jn.14:6). As we now are witnessing atheisms pathetically efforts again to diminish our faith, but now they threaten and ridicule what use to be their venerated science and what it has discovered.
Our new world, with all its scientific and technological advancements has now more evidence for God than ever before. Astronomy and physics has verified the fact that our universe, as Arno Penzias, a Nobel winner in physics, states “was created out of nothing, one with the very delicate balance needed to provide exactly the conditions required to permit life, and one which has an underlining (one might say ‘supernatural’) plan.” Cosmologist Edward Harrison adds, “The fine tuning of the universe provides prima facie evidence of deistic design.” And none other than Stephen Hawkins concedes “It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun in just this way, except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like Us.”
It is not just this fact, but everything science is discovering of the human genome, all of bio-chemistry and genetics is revealing the complexity of life, for it all points to a supernatural order, and a divine providence at work. This God has shown immense care in this delicate balance. A Universe made for our existence, a planet design for our thriving. A creation where “in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts.17:28). It reveals again a caring and loving God. His purpose, again we might easily say, is to bring about those who will love “Him” in return.
It is at the point now that to deny a supernatural cause for all of the universe, and our existence, is to deny science. Yet as we have seen of late, science too has been co-opted by this corrupt “religion.” Yet, clearly God is not dead, instead all the efforts to rid society of God; are dead. It is really atheism that is dead. All the efforts to prop up disbelief by using science have become ashes. Yet, as our Lord prophetically stated in one of His parable, “Let both grow together (the weeds and the wheat) until the harvest time…then gather the weeds first …to be burned (Mt.13:30). Evil will not give up. Satan will never quit trying. And that is why we are here, to “occupy,” to be “salt” and “light” until the Master “returns” (Mt. 5:13,14; Lk.19:13,15KJV). He will return, and His purpose achieved. That is assured, and I have so much more to say about God’s care, His providence, and purpose, but alas we will have to take this up again next month.
He is the light of the world, as we are to be,
